Combat Support System-Joint (GCSS-J), have adopted Agile methods to build a future increment or block of capability. Before deciding to adopt Agile practices, program managers should first identify construct a 12-month release composed of seven sprints, each taking six weeks, followed by a six-week block for final testing and certification. Programs could also establish 11 month-long sprints in a year subsequent Increments or Block upgrades after establishing the operational baseline (Increment 1); for example, GCSS-J transitioned to an Agile approach starting with Block 7 in 2008. In this potential
