You can verify that the output image mask is indeed transparent by overlaying it on top of another image. Colorizing child is not affected, you can confirm the relationship is still intact by using the Outliner to verify that the child object is still parented. Options Clear Delta Clear the delta transform in addition with. Their UVs will disappear from the UV Editor, but they are still there, just not shown.
